Isla's 100 Word Challenge

I was watching 'The Wizard of Oz' and I was just up to the part of the tornado. The violent storm was crashing down everything in sight!Next I heard a rumble and I realised that 'The Wizard of Oz' was only a dream. So the rumbles were real!As I looked out the window I could see struggling trees being blown about like natural flags. And controlling it all was a whirl wind of terror.Suddenly,it was all very dark. The power had died.As the night went on there were continuous roars of despair, hate and anger.

On The Eiffel Tower

I was standing in huge awe at the top of Paris' famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower.
Clutching my purse, I placed two euros into a telescope.I could see so many places!
I could see ... Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, The Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens.
Just then, someone smashed into me rudely, causing the telescope to flop down to show the gravelly
ground. As I looked down I was surprised to see a large commotion at the foot of the tower.
I could faintly hear the word 'Euros, euros!'.Then I realised I had dropped my money. Ooh lala!

The Biggest Eagle In The World

What-to make a conclusion or an assumption.
So What-I learnt how to use a T Chart . I firstly wrote down a inference, then I'd write because..... (from the evidence from the text).
Now What-I think I should write down more ideas and only have to read the book once.

Here are a couple of my thoughts.......

-I think that the Haast's Eagle was the biggest eagle in the world because .... It weighed 13 kilograms , a wingspan of 2 metres and powerfully muscled legs and feet.

-I think the Moa was the biggest flightless bird in the world because ......... It weighed almost 200 kilograms. And the Maoris wanted it for its large amount of meat, bones and feathers.

Now What:Not having to research before writing down my findings.

What is Gallipoli and why is it important?

Gallipoli is a peninsula in the north western side of Turkey near Istanbul.
It was the place where many of New Zealand's and Australia's men , teenagers were brave, killed or injured. In all 2,721 NZ soliders were killed on that beachfront, more than 25% of those who landed at Gallipoli.

Gallipoli
(What is special about it and what was unfair)
-New Zealand and Australia working together.
-They evacuated after 8 months
-It was where many brave soliders died.
-Maori battalion took part in the first attack by maori soliders outside NZ.
-It was harder for the ANZACs to fight the Turks due to not being in their own country.

The Cutting Wedge

What-WALT show our understanding using character webs and story maps etc.
So What-I have learnt lots of different activities to show my understanding eg character webs.
Now What-Write more complex answers for the activities.

Activity 9

"When you have a big job to do ,you should call the experts"
(In this case a tree)
Agree...
-The experts know how to cut down trees safely.
-They have done it before and they can do it well.
-Experts probably won't have the tree they have cut down in the nieghbours backyard.

Disagree...
-If you know how to cut down trees , do it yourself.
-You may not do it often but you might need to know how one day.
-It is easier and cheaper to do it yourself.

Now What-Show my findings on some different graphs .eg pictograph.

Hypothesis

We were each given a mini pack of Smarties. We were told to write the following-I think ---------- will be the most popular coloured Smartie. And - I think there will be -----Smarties in my box.My findings were this -Green and Ten Smarties in a box.

Data Collection

Now What-show detailed and accurate facial features and add some more.

Conflict-How to solve it

What-We are learning to solve Conflict.
So What-I have improved at making plans to solve small problems.
Now What-Put my plans to solve Conflict at School into action.

Two girls are arguing over who's dance moves are better for a song that another girl who was not arguing brought along to dance to.
1.What can the girls do to cool off?
They could walk away, get a drink of water and think of something else.
2.What is the problem?
Jessica and sarah (the two girls)are arguing about who's move's are the best for the end of the song .
3.What are some solutions to the problem?
-choose some moves they both think are best.
-stop playing- maybe not
-Get the other girl, Taryn to choose them.
-Mix the steps together.
4.What solution have I chosen?
Choose some moves they both like.
5.How do I plan to do this?

The Senses of the Sea

In Room 11 we are learning to : Use our senses (hearing, smell, touch, taste and sight.)to describe
our thoughts,experiences and feelings.
So What : I've learnt that you have to use lots of interesting describing words so that the person reading it feel like they are in the story.
Now What:I think I need to describe more about what the rocks and seagulls are like (in I hear and I see.)
Here is my story describing my day at the beach:

I see monstrous waves clashing onto the hot silky sand as if the sand was in trouble with the waves and
I can see seagulls searching for fish around the wet and slippery rocks.I hear furious waves smashing on
the sand and seagulls screeching numerous amounts of times.I smell the salty fragrant perfume of the sea with a whiff of fish making a perfect smell for the ocean.I feel the calm salty mist spraying against
my cheek as the waves clash on the beach like a thunderstorm.I feel soaked and excited!!!!!
